Ann Bishop
Director
Ann leads Indepen’s offer in the water, energy, transport and ICT sectors, helping boards and investors understand the implications of politics, public policy and regulation on corporate value and reputation and how to ensure that the right incentives, performance measures, resources, structures and governance arrangements are in place to equip their organisations to exploit opportunities and manage risks efficiently. This includes how organisations and service providers which contribute to the customer experience can work together to optimise service quality and efficiency.
She chairs the Indepen Forum for Chief Executives which facilitates discussion between investors, directors, politicians, civil servants and academics to progress more informed, coherent public policy development.
Her project work includes:
- facilitating board strategy meetings
- board briefings, including work with new NEDs
- organisational reviews and development
- designing engagement strategies and plans
- reviewing and challenging regulatory strategies and business plans
- preparation for major regulatory events such as Competition Commission referrals
- director recruitment.
Before founding Indepen in 1990 Ann worked in the Strategy Group at Deloitte, working primarily in financial services, retailing and manufacturing. Before that she worked at Natwest Investment Bank, Chase Manhattan Bank and OCL a subsidiary of P&O.
She has a first class honours degree form Cambridge University and is on the Board of Opera North.
